QualityMetrics, LLC is excited to announce the launch of LibSpace, a focused survey tool designed to help libraries gain deeper insight into how their physical environments are perceived by their communities. This initiative offers a limited number of opportunities for select libraries to participate immediately in 2026.

Library as Place measures how the physical environment is perceived both in pragmatic, utilitarian, and symbolic terms encompassing aspects of the library as a refuge. With LibSpace, institutions will now have the opportunity to focus exclusively on this dimension of the LibQUAL framework.

Unlike broader surveys, LibSpace is concise—just five core questions—while still providing powerful benchmarking capabilities. Participating libraries will have the option to add custom questions tailored to their unique environments. Results can be compared against normative data from past LibQUAL participants, offering libraries a clear lens for measuring progress and identifying areas for improvement.

The launch of LibSpace reflects our continued commitment to providing libraries with the tools they need to better understand and serve their communities. By isolating the ‘Library as Place’ dimension, institutions can gain actionable insights into how their spaces are perceived and valued,”* said Martha Kyrillidou, Director of QualityMetrics, LLC.
LibSpace is now open for participation starting in 2026. Libraries interested in joining this limited launch are encouraged to register and mark their interest here.
